The eighth instalment of the Fast and the Furious franchise, The Fate Of The Furious, was just released at a giant event in Times Square and oh boy, it’s a doozy.

The film — which is set to come out early 2017 — sees ‘The Family’ coming together again in New York (minus Paul Walker’s character who has retired from their fast hijinks in the story) with Jason Statham returning as supervillain Deckard Shaw and Charlize Theron playing an even more evil villain, who also has white person dreads. Cool!

There are so many things to talk about in this trailer. Why has Dom — a man who singularly cares about family and attempts to relate every life event back to a metaphor for family — turned against the family? Was the much-publicised Rock/Vin Diesel feud just a marketing exercise for the film? How the hell could Hobbs and Shaw break out of a maximum security prison (“I will beat you like a Cherokee drum!” wtf) ? Why is Ludacris in a tank? Why are they attempting to trap Dom’s car with five different bungee cords/how could they drive away after they caught him?

I don’t know, but I cannot wait to find out. Nothing was the same.

Ooh boy. Here’s the synopsis for #F8:

“Now that Dom and Letty are on their honeymoon and Brian and Mia have retired from the game — and the rest of the crew has been exonerated — the globetrotting team has found a semblance of a normal life. But when a mysterious woman (Charlize Theron) seduces Dom into the world of crime he can’t seem to escape and a betrayal of those closest to him, they will face trials that will test them as never before. From the shores of Cuba and the streets of New York City to the icy plains off the arctic Barents Sea, our elite force will crisscross the globe to stop an anarchist from unleashing chaos on the world’s stage… and to bring home the man who made them a family.”

The Fate Of The Furious is out on April 14.
