Fatboy Slim and Greta Thunberg might not seem like the most obvious collaborators.

After all, Fatboy Slim — real name Norman Cook — is a popstar of the old school variety, a straightforward purveyor of hits who avoids spectacle or tricks in favour of pure melodic invention. And then there’s Greta Thunberg. The founder of the school strike for climate movement, the young activist has become the face of environmental protests, rallying followers around a series of fiery speeches.

So no, not a lot in common — that is, except for a shared sense of justice, and a passion for speaking out against the powers that be.

In fact, it’s presumably that rebel spirit that inspired someone to remix Thunberg’s devastating speech to the UN into Fatboy Slim’s ‘Right Here, Right Now’ — a move which prompted a shoutout from the producer himself. So naturally, he’s brought it on tour with him.

Yep, right in the middle of ‘Right Here, Right Now’ at his recent Melbourne show, Cook dropped in a section of Thunberg’s call to action, delivered to the UN. And, predictably, the crowd went wild for it.
