Accidental dick pics will be a thing of the past!

I’ve done it, you’ve done it, we’ve all done it. You’re chatting away to an aunt on Facebook messenger, go to send her that pic from last week’s family wedding and accidentally click on that dick pic you spent hours getting just the right angle for Grindr last night. Wait… we have all done that right?

Whatever, insert your own experience, but whether it’s a sensual nude or simply sending “I s2g if Cassie mentions her new fugly boyfriend one more time I’m going to implode” to the wrong group chat that happens to have Cassie in it, accidental FB messenger texts can be disastrous.

Up until now, once shot off into the cloud, or whatever, your Facebook messages are nigh un-deletable. Even if you hold down the bubble and click ‘Delete’ you’re only removing it from your chat log, and it’s still on show to anyone else on the receiving end.

This will also not help.

Thankfully for all of us, Facebook recently released details for its next app update and buried in the text was this little gem: “Coming soon: Remove a message from a chat thread after it’s been sent. If you accidentally send the wrong photo, incorrect information, or message the wrong thread, you can easily correct it by removing the message within 10 minutes of sending it.”

Ten minutes is actually plenty, thanks Facebook. I mean, if you’re still umming and ahhing about a sent message at the 9-minute mark, you obviously haven’t fucked up as badly as I have in the past.

The Messenger update 191.0 is available now for iOS, but as the “coming soon” bit above infers, we’ll have to wait for the next round of updates to try out this new feature. Thanks, Zucc. This will no doubt save relationships. (Please call me Aunty Jacquie, I’m really sorry!).
