A Quiet Place has one of those premises so ingeniously simple you have to wonder why someone else hadn’t come up with it years before — what if the only way to survive an alien invasion was to be totally silent?

Directed by John Krasinski — yes, Jim from The Office — the film was a box office smash. It’s not hard to see why. Not only was it quite genuinely terrifying, it also rattled with a strange, sweet sense of heart and humour. At the end of the day, A Quiet Place isn’t a film about aliens. It’s about family, and the things that you do to try and keep them together.

Well, at least by the looks of the first trailer, A Quiet Place: Part 2 is going to be a very similar kind of beast.

Opening with a flashback to the first day of the invasion, the trailer then follows Emily Blunt as the badass Evelyn, a young woman tasked with trying to guide her family through a minefield of threats, not all of them alien.

Basically, the whole thing looks even scarier than the first film, an exercise in pure tension building that culminates in one of the most chilling setpieces we’ve seen in a while.

Watch this thing at your own risk.
