Emilia Clarke, AKA Daenerys Targaryen, Has Been Cast In The Upcoming Han Solo Movie
Trading dragons for the Millennium Falcon.
Well this Han Solo movie just keeps getting better and better, hey? As if we weren’t excited enough by the news that Community star Donald Glover will be playing a young Lando Calrissian, we’ve just gotten word that he’ll be joined by Emilia Clarke – or, to give her her full title, Daenerys Stormborn of the House Targaryen, First of Her Name, the Unburt, Queen of the Andals and the First Men, Khaleesi of the Great Grass Sea, Breaker of Chains, and Mother of Dragons.
Details about Clarke’s role are in short supply. All we know so far is what has been revealed by Starwars.com: “Emilia Clarke is heading to a galaxy far, far away — and she’s going to meet Han and Chewie.”
“Clarke joins Alden Ehrenreich and Donald Glover — previously cast as Han Solo and Lando Calrissian, respectively — in the highly-anticipated film, which is set prior to the original Star Wars trilogy,” reads the announcement.
Of course while Clarke has been killing it on Game of Thrones for years, her career on the big screen has been a little less impressive. Her most significant credits to date include her starring role in the highly problematic and also not very good romantic drama Me Before You, as well as her turn as Sarah Connor in the instantly forgettable Terminator: Genisys.
Still, if any film seems destined to turn her fortunes around, surely it’s this one?
Directed by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller of 21 Jump Street and Lego Movie fame, the untitled Han Solo film hits cinemas in 2018.
