Eight Sequels That Should’ve Never Been Made
Do we really need a Mrs Doubtfire 2? Really?
Mean Girls 2 (2011)
Mark Waters’ and Tina Fey’s Mean Girls (2004) was instantly iconic, quotable (“So fetch!”), hilarious, and smart. It turned 10 just yesterday, and the entire internet has been busy celebrating one of the decade’s finest comedies on one hand and reminding everyone how old they are now on the other. The made-for-TV sequel — made with none of the original’s writing team, directing team, or cast (well, besides Tim Meadows’ Principal Duvall) — is an incredibly depressing drop in quality, and completely misses the point of the genius original.
