Dreamland (2010)

I saw Ivan Sen’s black and white oddity at the Melbourne International Film Festival in 2010 and wasn’t exactly sure who would be brave enough to release it, but thought it to be the best local film I had seen since Lantana (2001).

Four years on and this incredibly audacious, resonant film has yet to find a release. If you ever get the chance to see it, take it. The film is a rare, experimental work of genius. Maybe Sen’s next film, an “action-romance-science-fiction movie” set in China will find a better fate.
