Donald Trump Would Like You To Know Taylor Swift Really Hurt His Feelings
Surprise surprise: Donald Trump isn't happy.
Following Taylor Swift’s announcement that she’ll be supporting the Democrats in the US mid-term elections, US President Donald Trump has responded by telling reporters he likes her music “25 per cent less now”.
ICYMI, Taylor Swift broke her deafening silence on politics yesterday with an Instagram post announcing her support for the Democrats.
The post shared a list of reasons why Swift wouldn’t be voting for Republican Marsha Blackburn, stating: “As much as I have in the past and would like to continue voting for women in office, I cannot support Marsha Blackburn, her voting record in Congress appalls and terrifies me. She voted against equal pay for women.
“She voted against the Reauthorization of the Violence Against Women Act, which attempts to protect women from domestic violence, stalking, and date rape. She believes businesses have a right to refuse service to gay couples. She also believes they should not have the right to marry.”

Speaking at a press conference at the White House today, President Donald Trump responded to Swift’s announcement, saying: “I like Taylor Swift’s music about 25 per cent less now.” In typical Trump style this is a lot less damning than he thinks it is, but at least he tried.

Swift has come under fire consistently in the past for her silence on many political issues, including her reluctance to condemn Trump.
Swift somewhat acknowledged this in her post, writing: “In the past I’ve been reluctant to publicly voice my political opinions, but due to several events in my life and in the world in the past two years, I feel very differently about that now.”
The artist pledged her support for Democrat Phil Bredesen in the Senate, and fellow Democrat Jim Cooper for the House of Representatives. Ending her post Swift called fans to arms, imploring them to register to vote, placing emphasis on the “many intelligent, thoughtful, self-possessed people have turned 18 in the past two years and now have the right and privilege to make their vote count.”
Whilst she is yet to denounce Trump himself, or acknowledge the fact that she’s probably waited about two and a half years too long to say something, it’s a start! Swift will be in Australia later this month for her Reputation World Tour.
