Dom Perrottet Has Roasted Gladys Berejiklian For That Batshit Origin Photo
"Getting ready for Game 1. Go the NSW Blues!"
In honour of State of Origin kicking off tonight, NSW Premier Dominic Perrottet has dragged his predecessor Gladys Berejiklian on the anniversary of an unfortunate meme.
You might remember the digital outrage last year after Berejiklian’s social media manager committed the crime of the century, posting a picture of the former NSW Premier posing with her back to the camera, while holding an unopened can of Coke Zero.

Deciphering the motive of this crime attack was difficult: Why isn’t Gladys facing the camera? Was NRL content so desperately needed that a Gladys body-double was recruited to complete this picture? Why is only a sliver of the television showing the match in the shot?
Like impressionist painter Paul Cezanne’s artwork The Murder, the crime was subsequently immortalised into art — with copious meming placing the ex-premier into a range of contexts including the video game GTA San Andreas.

In a tribute to the legacy left by Berejiklian, current premier Dominic Perrottet has lovingly recreated the original picture complete with all its little ugly quirks.

Not content to let a Liberal get away with posting a good meme, Twitter users have remixed Perrottet’s meme to comment on the industrial action being taken by 30,000 public service workers.
Meanwhile in New South Wales.
All happening this year in 2022: Teacher strikes. Healthcare strikes. Public sector strikes.

Either via coincidence or spooky magic, Gladys’ original post actually resulted in NSW beating QLD 50-6 in last year’s State of Origin. Here’s hoping Dom’s post will result in a similar win this year.
