Dave Chappelle And Chris Rock Mock The Reaction Of White Liberals To Trump’s Victory On ‘SNL’

When it was announced that legendary comedian Dave Chappelle would host Saturday Night Live, it was a pretty big deal. Then Donald Trump won the race for the White House, and it suddenly became must-see TV.

After a joke-free cold open in which Kate McKinnon paid tribute to Leonard Cohen and Hillary Clinton, Chappelle took the stage for an opening monologue/stand-up routine in which he broke down the result of the election.
“You know, I didn’t know that Donald Trump was going to win the election,” he began. “I did suspect it. Seemed like Hillary was doing well in the polls and yet, I know the whites. You guys aren’t as full of surprises as you used to be.”
“I feel bad saying it, I’m staying in a Trump hotel right now,” he admitted. “I don’t know if he’s going to make a good president, but he makes a swell hotel suite, I’ll tell you that. Housekeeping comes in in the morning, cleans my room, and I say ‘hey good morning housekeeping’ and grab a big handful of pussy. ‘Boss said it was okay.'”
He ended the routine on a more serious note, wishing Donald Trump luck for the next four years. “I’m going to give him a chance,” said Chappelle, “and we the historically disenfranchised demand that he give us one too.”
The election came up a number of times throughout the episode. In a sketch that hit particularly close to home, Chappelle played the only black guest at an election party full of white people confidently predicting a Clinton victory. “Because of shifting demographics, there might never be another Republican president in the country,” remarked one guest. “Word,” said Chappelle.” You ever been around this country before?”
As the night dragged on, Chappelle was joined by Larry, played by SNL alumni Chris Rock, and together the pair watched their Caucasian friends come to terms with what was happening. “Oh my God…I think America is racist,” said a distraught Hillary supporter. “Oh my God,” replied Chappelle. “You know I remember my great grandfather told me something like that. But he was like a slave or something.”
“Why aren’t people turning out for Hillary the way they did for Barack Obama?” asked another guest. “Maybe because you’re replacing a charismatic 40-year-old black guy with a 70-year-old white woman?” shot back Rock.
With a Trump victory assured, the pair did their best to comfort the other guests. “Don’t worry about it,” said Chappelle. “Eight years are gonna fly by.”
“Come on guys, get some rest,” added Rock. “You’ve got a big day of moping and writing on Facebook tomorrow.”
