‘The Weakest Link’ Host Cornelia Frances Has Died, Aged 77
Vale.
Actor and TV personality Cornelia Frances has passed away at the age of 77 after a battle with cancer.
Born in England, Frances emigrated to Australia in the 1970s, where she became famous for her recurring parts as Sister Grace Scott on The Young Doctors and Morag Bellingham on Home and Away. She appeared in the latter role for a staggering 29 years.
She was also the host of the short-lived (but iconic) early 2000s game show The Weakest Link, famously berating the contestants at every possible opportunity.
Following the news of her passing, a number of Australians took to social media to share their memories of Frances’ work.
I met Ms Frances when I was a contestant on the Weakest Link (true!). She was such a lovely person we weren’t allowed to talk to her off camera lest it undid her on-air bitchy persona. Vale. https://t.co/7jhPouHbp5

Oh, this is so sad!! I loved Cornelia Frances in Young Doctors and The Weakest Link. I loved how she portrayed someone so cold, and yet every interview I saw, she seemed so warm. A great loss. https://t.co/NTIKDRwFWx

Vale Cornelia Frances. The Australian TV legend was perhaps best known for her roles as Morag on HOME & AWAY, Barbara on SONS & DAUGHTERS and as the host of THE WEAKEST LINK. Our thoughts are with Cornelia’s friends and family. She will be sorely missed. pic.twitter.com/uhsyr7cqo7
