Chris Meloni And A Cartoon Unicorn Star In A Bizarre, Violent New Crime Show

Christopher Meloni stars as an alcoholic ex-cop who must team up with a flying blue unicorn to save a young girl from kidnappers, in the bizarre, violent, foul-mouthed first trailer for Happy! Incidentally, if that sentence doesn’t sell you on this show, then the chances of you and I ever being friends are slim to nil.
Adapted from the cult-hit graphic novel by Grant Morrison, the series follows Nick Sax (Meloni), a detective-turned-hit-man who drinks like a fish and fantasises about killing himself. After a near-death experience, Sax finds himself being following around by Happy, a relentlessly cheery cartoon unicorn. Happy, it turns out, is the imaginary friend of Hayley, who has been abducted by a man dressed as Santa Claus. So yeah, pretty standard stuff really.
Also, did I mention that Happy is voiced by Patton Oswalt?
There’s a lot of insane stuff going on in this trailer, including a sequence in which a bad guy threatens to slice off sections of Sax’s penis like salami. Still, I think my favourite this about it is how it essentially functions as an unofficial follow-up to Meloni’s role in SVU.
Happy! premieres in the US on December 6.
