Chris Pratt is in the news again today and, for once, it’s not about the actor landing another animated Italian voice acting gig. Instead, Pratt is in hot water for a questionable Instagram post dedicated to his new wife and “healthy” daughter.

On Wednesday, Pratt paid tribute to wife Katherine Schwarzenegger on Instagram with a photo and lengthy caption where he claimed her heart “belongs” to him.

In it, the actor said that Schwarzenegger was his “greatest treasure” right next to one of his prized baseball cards and thanked her for giving him a “gorgeous, healthy daughter”.

“She’s given me an amazing life, a gorgeous healthy daughter, she chews so loudly that sometimes I put in my earbuds to drown it out, but that’s love!” Pratt sarcastically wrote in the Instagram post.

“Her heart is pure and it belongs to me,” he continued. “My greatest treasure, right next to my Ken Griffey Jr Upper Deck Rookie card. Which if you know, you know is saying a lot.”

“It’s her birthday in about six weeks. So if I don’t get her anything, I’ll tell her to look back on this post. Love you, honey.”

Pratt was immediately called out for his “disgustingly misogynistic” caption that not only made Schwarzenegger out to be a possession that “belonged” to him, but because the caption also entirely ignored his nine-year-old son Jack.

“You do know you have a son, right? Shouldn’t he also be a greatest treasure?” one person asked referring to Pratt’s son with first wife, Anna Faris.

“Did you somehow forget about your son???” another commented under Pratt’s Instagram post. “You forgot about your son.”

But beyond not including Jack while speaking of his life’s “greatest treasure”, Pratt has also been criticised for his “passive aggressive” use of the word “healthy” to describe his new daughter as Jack has suffered from serious health issues in the past.

As a newborn, Jack underwent multiple hernia and eye surgeries and now has a non-life-threatening heart problem and wears visual aids. After being born nine weeks premature, Jack had to spend weeks in the NICU before being allowed to come home.

In 2014, Pratt revealed that doctors told the couple that they had to” be prepared for raising a special-needs child” and that Jack would need surgery to correct his vision.

In her 2017 memoir, Unqualified, Faris also spoke about Jack’s premature birth and the struggles she and Pratt faced during his time in the NICU.

“The paediatric neurosurgeon sat Chris and me down to tell us that Jack had some severe brain bleeding and there was a chance that he could be developmentally disabled,” Faris wrote.

“I was in complete shock… so Chris and I did what we could, which was hold hands and hope and face it together.”

Considering the emotional ordeal that the couple faced together during the birth of their son, it feels insensitive for Pratt to not only totally ignore Jack, but to thank his wife by using the words “healthy” to describe his new child in this situation.

Really, Pratt’s entire post just felt like a huge misfire in an attempt to replicate the type of banter other celebrity husbands, like Ryan Reynolds, have with their partners online.

But if his questionable Instagram post has shown us anything, it’s that Chris Pratt continues to prove why he’s earned the title of ‘Worst Chris In Hollywood’ and that the love for Anna Faris is as strong as ever.
