Chance The Rapper Visited A Chicago Primary School On Careers Day And Sat In On A Maths Class
What an absolute legend.
File this one under ‘nice people doing nice things and making everybody happy’. Three-time Grammy winner Chance the Rapper made a surprise appearance at Courtenay Elementary in Uptown, Chicago, stopping by to dispense some wisdom during the school’s careers fair, and even sitting in on a third grade maths class.
“Pult up for Career Day and was invited to sit in on Ms. Jackson’s class,” Chance wrote in an Instagram post on Friday afternoon.
He also delivered a speech in the school auditorium about how he achieved success as a rapper.
“He spoke to all of us about his career and told us to stay in school,” 13-year-old Joanne Tablas told DNA Info.
“He inspired us to try to make our dreams come true,” added 12-year-old Ethan Nguyen. “It was exciting.”
A Chicago native, Chance has been a vocal advocate for improving the city’s public school system, and recently donated $1 million of his own money to the Chicago Public Schools Foundation to benefit arts education. What an absolute legend.
Thanks @chancetherapper for giving back to the Chicago community, which gave us so much. You are an example of the power of arts education.
