Carrie Fisher Personally Delivered A Cow’s Tongue To A Producer Who Sexually Harassed Her Friend
This story will make you miss her so much.
If this week’s steady stream of devastating stories of sexual assault and harassment has you down, take some comfort in the late, great Carrie Fisher’s response to one predatory dickhead.
Upon hearing that a film producer had sexually harassed her friend, Fisher apparently personally delivered a severed cow’s tongue to his office, along with a very scary warning about what would happen to him if he did it again.
Screenwriter Heather Robinson (you might also know her as Heather Ross), who was a close friend of Fisher’s, shared the story in a interview yesterday with US radio station MIXfm Tucson. After she was sexually harassed by a high profile producer several years ago, Robinson said she confided in Fisher, who was “like a mother figure” in the industry.
“She was very protective of me, and more scared for my safety than anything,” Robinson said.
U can only warn people what u know. #CarrieFisher stood up 4 me back in 2000 here is my interview with @mixfmtucson https://t.co/EgWe4qz8G6

Two weeks later, though, Robinson received a message from Fisher saying she’d just seen the alleged perpetrator at his office, and “personally delivered a Tiffany box wrapped with a white bow”.
What was in the box? As Robinson tells it, “it was a cow tongue from Jerry’s Famous Deli with a note that said ‘if you ever touch my darling Heather or any other woman again, the next delivery will be something of yours in a much smaller box'”.
A cow’s tongue, if you’re not aware, looks uncannily like a severed penis. Here’s a visual aid, click at your own peril.
Fisher apparently stood there while the guy opened the box, and got to see his face in real time as he slowly realised it was not, in fact, a gift. She told Robinson she wished she’d recorded his expression, which would’ve been priceless.
Robinson told MIXfm that Fisher’s actions were immensely affirming for her at the time, and emblematic of Carrie Fisher’s friendship.
“That’s just how she was,” Robinson said. “I miss her dearly. She stood up for people. It felt validating to know that this woman I loved as a friend was not just a fake Hollywood friend — she was all true.”
“That’s who Carrie Fisher was — she spoke out, she put things out there in your face.”
Of course, as satisfying as delivering a cow’s tongue to a sexual predator must have been, many have pointed out that to truly protect others from the producer in question, someone needs to name him. Responding on Twitter this morning, Robinson assured several people that the name of the perpetrator would come out, and hopefully it will.
For now, though, it’s nice to take some comfort knowing that Carrie Fisher wrecked at least one scumbag who deserved a bad scare. What a legend she was.
