Where In The World Is Carmen Sandiego? On Netflix, Apparently!
It’s been 20 years since forever fashion icon, arch-criminal, and all-around nostalgic legend Carmen Sandiego graced our television sets, making that old rallying cry all the more relevant: where in the world really is Carmen Sandiego?
Well, now we have the answer: Sandiego will take a break from stealing beloved national monuments, and will debut a brand new show on Netflix later this month.
We found her! We found Carmen Sandiego! Well, we found the official trailer, you'll have to wait until January 18 to find the full season. pic.twitter.com/iYD4NsXZUm

Carmen Sandiego (love the simplicity of the title!) is being described as a prequel, so the eponymous character will be more of a rogue-ish anti-hero than the master criminal nostalgic ’90s kids will remember her eventually becoming.
Which is admittedly a bit weird: what am I meant to do, unlearn decades of conditioning that taught me to fear and avoid the red pant-suited mastermind?
nobody asks how is Carmen Sandiego

But hey, on the plus side, the upcoming show boasts one helluva stacked voice cast. Sandiego will be voiced by Gina Rodriguez, best known for playing Jane in the deliciously over-the-top soap opera sensation Jane The Virgin, and for her excellent turn in 2018’s sci-fi masterpiece Annihilation.
Meanwhile, the audience surrogate, a character appropriately titled Player, will be voiced by Finn Wolfhard, the Stranger Things star continuing his long-running relationship with streaming giant Netflix. Oh, and singer and Disney star Sabrina Carpenter is set to play ‘Savannah’, whoever that is (we’re thinking Player’s love interest?)
Of course, the franchise has always been a secret way of keeping kids up to date on their geography knowledge — it’s the TV version of parents cutting up broccoli really, really small and mixing it in with mac and cheese — so expect the new series to continue in that proud tradition, and to be bursting with a whole bundle’s worth of real-world facts.
The full first season of Carmen Sandiego drops on January 18, so get ready to binge.
