‘Captain Marvel’ Has Made $1 Billion, So MRA Trolls Can Suck It
Higher, further, faster.
Captain Marvel has become the latest MCU blockbuster to rake in more than US$1 billion at the global box office, despite having been in theatres for less than a month. So yeah, online manbabies can pretty much get fucked.
Marvel’s first female-led superhero flick was targeted by internet trolls in the months leading up to its release. Their outrage stemmed from comments star Brie Larson made about the importance of representation and gender equality in the movie industry — although I have a funny feeling they would have found a way to take issue with the movie regardless.
It’s also worth pointing out that Larson’s comments were 100 percent correct. While Captain Marvel is the 38th film to reach $1 billion, it’s just the second in the category that was directed by a woman.
Our girl Carol Danvers just joined the One Billion Club! Thank you endlessly for helping us cross this milestone. It has been a pleasure sharing this character with the world. I’ve loved seeing the cosplay, fan art and passionate words about our HERo. Higher Further Faster baby! pic.twitter.com/mOZcUt8L5q
