Not Cool, Cool, Cool: ’Brooklyn Nine-Nine Is Officially Coming To An End After Season 8
This is not very noice of them. Not very toit.
It’s sadly official: Brooklyn Nine-Nine is set to end after its upcoming eighth season.
And no, this isn’t like that time that Fox unjustly canned the show before it was saved by NBC a day later. NBC has shared that the Brooklyn Nine-Nine storyline is set to wrap up after Season 8 airs.
This means we’ve only got 10 episodes left to find out what happens with our favourite members of the 99th precinct, which is three episodes less than we got in Season 7.
But to make the pain all that much worse, the pandemic actually halted filming, so we likely won’t even get to catch up with Jake Peralta (Andy Samberg) and the rest of team until the 2021-2022 season.
Thankfully, Andy Samberg has shared that he expects production to resume “fairly soon”, so hopefully we get that sweet, sweet injection of Season 8 serotonin sooner rather than later.

Taking to Instagram, executive producer and show co-creator Dan Goor shared his reasoning for ending the show now, and thanked the network, cast and fans for all their support with Brooklyn Nine-Nine over the years.
“I’m so thankful to NBC and Universal Television for allowing us to give these characters and our fans the ending they deserve,” Goor said.
“I feel incredibly lucky to have worked with this amazing cast and crew for eight seasons… But most of all, I feel lucky that we have had the best fans in the world,” he continued. “Fans who literally saved us from cancellation. Fans who fill us with joy.”
“Ending the show was a difficult decision, but ultimately, we felt it was the best way to honour the characters, the story and our viewers,” Goor concluded.
“I know some people will be disappointed it’s ending so soon, but honestly, I’m grateful it lasted this long. Title of my sex tape.”
