Ooh Baby, Baby: Britney Spears Is Pregnant With Her Third Child
She also casually announced that she's married now.
Just months after being freed from her controversial conservatorship, pop music icon Britney Spears has announced she is pregnant with her third child — the first with her fiancee Sam Asghari.
Spears took to Instagram to announce the news in a chaotic and very on-brand post.
“I lost so much weight to go on my Maui trip only to gain it back… I thought “Geez … what happened to my stomach???” My husband said “No you’re food pregnant silly”,” she wrote on Instagram. “So I got a pregnancy test… and uhhhhh well… I am having a baby…”
The news comes just four days after Britney referred to Asghari as her “HUSBAND” on Instagram, prompting speculation that the pair — who have been engaged for a while now — appeared to have tied the knot. Spears’ post has been flooded with congratulatory messages from the likes of Paris Hilton, Andy Cohen and Tia Mowry, among countless others.
Throughout her pregnancy announcement, Spears touched on the perinatal depression she experienced when pregnant with her first two sons, expressing her gratitude that talking about your mental health during pregnancy is more acceptable now. She did, however, note that she won’t be going out much during her pregnancy out of fear that the paparazzi will take advantage of her for a profit. And honestly, considering everything she’s been through in her life, this feels like a totally warranted response.
Her husband also took to Instagram to announce the news.
“Marriage and kids are a natural part of a strong relationship filled with love and respect. Fatherhood is something i have always looked forward to and i don’t take lightly. It is the most important job i will ever do,” Asghari wrote.
Her pregnancy announcement comes as a huge win for Spears, whose life — including her choice to get married or have children — has been dictated by a conservatorship for much of the last 14 years. Now, within months of her conservatorship ending in November 2021, Britney appears to have done both.
