BREAKING NEWS: Melissa McCarthy Will Appear In The ‘Gilmore Girls’ Revival

In very exciting Gilmore Girls news, Melissa McCarthy who plays Sookie St. James, best friend of Lorelai Gilmore and head chef at the Dragonfly Inn, has been confirmed for the Netflix series revival.

This announcement is big because until now it looked like the series wasn’t going to feature her at all — McCarthy was even telling people that Gilmore Girls creator Amy Sherman-Palladino hadn’t even bothered to ask her. Presumably this was because Palladino thought that McCarthy was too much of a big shot now to return to the show (Sookie was a pre-Bridesmaids role, you see) but her absence in the Stars Hollow universe would have been particulalry jarring for diehard fans, and bizarre given her on-screen husband Jackson (Jackson Douglas) was set to return.

Plus it would have been super distressing to think that Lorelai and Sookie, one of TV’s greatest friendship pairings, would no longer be close.

Now according to TV Line, everything is right with the world and Sookie will return, with McCarthy set to tape her segments in the “next few days”. Will she still be working at The Dragonfly with Loreali? Will she have forgiven Jackson for that fake vasectomy? Will she still be mad at Norman Mailer for refusing to eat her delicious cooking and only ordering iced tea? I cannot wait to find out.
