Timothée Chalamet is a disaffected cannibal in Luca Guadagnino’s latest cinematic offering Bones And All, and its first teaser is here for your casual consumption.

This is Guadagnino’s second cinematic outing with Chalamet — the two memorably worked together in 2017’s Call Me By Your Name, where Chalamet co-starred with Armie Hammer. Armie Hammer is not in this film, but cannibalism is, so that’s interesting.

Keeping with the 1980s nostalgia of the moment, the film traces a love story between teenagers Lee (Chalamet) and Maren (Taylor Russell), two troubled teenagers in 1980s America.

As reported by Deadline, producers describe the film as a “liberating road odyssey of two young people coming into their own, searching for identity and chasing beauty in a perilous world that cannot abide who they are.”

Last month, director Guadagnino said that he wanted to make the movie as he was interested in exploring disenfranchised people trying to exist on the margins of our culture, so I guess, cannibals?

“I love these characters,” the director said. “The heart of the movie is tender and affectionate towards them. I’m interested in their emotional journeys. I want to see where the possibilities lie for them, enmeshed within the impossibility they face.”

“The movie is for me a meditation on who I am and how I can overcome what I feel, especially if it is something I cannot control in myself. And lastly, and most importantly, when will I be able to find myself in the gaze of the other?”

The film also stars Chloë Sevigny, David Gordon-Green, Jessica Harper, and Mark Rylance.
