‘Queer Eye’ Design Expert Bobby Berk Is Assessing Everyone’s ‘Animal Crossing’ Homes
Some were beyond help.
Queer Eye design guru — and secretly the best of the fab five — Bobby Berk is taking his skills into the virtual world, assessing homes in Animal Crossing: New Horizons and helping make our virtual escapes more liveable.
On Twitter, the Queer Eye account asked Animal Crossing players to tweet screenshots of their homes to receive some interior design “hip-tips” from Berk. Happy Home Academy, the game’s interior ranking academy, has competition.
Hai Nook Miles+ members!! Do you need help making your #AnimalCrossing house a little more shamazing? Well, @bobbyberk is SOO EXCITED to share his interior design expertise with you!✨? Of course, Berk was inundated with responses, but was up to the task. Often, he focused on using the house’s space better, advising users to switch around their furniture to open things up.
Dying for all those windows in your kitchen! ♥️

I’d add a sitting area to the left of the screen. A nice little sofa and chair will really make the space feel cozy ♥️

Move your piano and record player on the left wall and the smaller furniture to the right

Move your furniture away from the walls. Float the sofa in the middle

There were, admittedly, a lot less Queer Eye antics — perhaps JVN and Tan could advise on users’ looks soon, and Karamo and Antoni can, uh, stand there?
Sometimes, Berk was at a loss to help.
Gurl… you trashy! ?

I think there may be too many different kinds of smells in this room ?
— Bobby Berk (@bobbyberk) April 28, 2020
Hahahaha. What is the room for?! ? the cage is throwing me off!

For some of the more cluttered spaces, Berk realised he’d need back-up: where’s Marie Kondo at when you need her?
I think it may be time to bring @MarieKondo in pic.twitter.com/rY6jq1HAg6

Hopefully Berk returns to providing some Animal Crossing assistance soon while we hold out for the already filmed fifth season of Queer Eye, which currently has no announced release.
In the meantime, find some more of his tips or source inspiration below — maybe if your island’s nice enough (and has killer turnip prices), Elijah Wood might pop by?
Yes! Upper East Side realness!

Maybe a nice neon sign on the wall or some patrons ?. Can other players interact with you? Go watch her show people!!! ?
— Bobby Berk (@bobbyberk) April 28, 2020
Love it!
I’d add a few more rugs around to make it feel cozier. An in-home diner?!? Sign me up!!— Bobby Berk (@bobbyberk) April 28, 2020
I’d put some furniture in the center or the room. Move that rug in the center under it. Loving the walls/floors! ♥️
— Bobby Berk (@bobbyberk) April 28, 2020
I’d put some nice lighting around the entrance to really brighten the place up.
Good luck with your turnip prices!
