Turns Out Bluey Is A Staunch Maroons Supporter Despite Literally Being Blue

"Do we know if bluey is a blues supporter, because if that dog is a Queenslander, I think we should send [her] to the farm."

NSW State of Origin supporters are devastated to learn that fictional dog Bluey backs Queensland during State of Origin.

‘The Decider’ from Season 3 of Bluey aired on Thursday, and introduces the next generation of Origin viewers to its annual interstate rivalry, as Bluey hops between a Blue and a Maroon household based on who’s winning.

However, for adult fans of the show, it also revealed that the Heeler family are staunch Maroons fans. The episode opens on one of the three games in the series, watched with Labrador neighbours Chucky and Lucky, as Heeler father Bandit paints himself head-to-toe in the Queensland colour.

“Wait, what colour is our team again?” asks the main character to quell any misconceptions about which side they support, followed by resounding cries of “MAROON!”

But that didn’t stop the underdeveloped brain of said dog-child mistaking maroon with the infamous secondary colour, purple. “My mum and dad are on the purple team, so I’m purple,” she quips. “Even though I’m blue — it’s confusing.”

The big message behind the episode is around the politics of team hopping, and pressure to pick a side, seen as little Chucky becomes torn between watching the second half of the game with his NSW mother or Queenslander dad.

“He has to chose one side … ’cause he can’t keep changing,” said Lucky, claiming it’s not fair to affiliate with both. Chucky picks the ‘Purples’ but looks sad when he sees his mum all alone and dejected as the Blues lose — much like in real life. The episode then ends on a rugby match between the All Blacks and Wallabies, where everyone can come together to support Australia with no divisions — just peace, love, and a wee bit of patriotism.

Despite the public outcry from NSW heads after ‘The Decider’ aired, many were quick to point out that Bluey does live in the Queensland’s capital city, so it doesn’t take too many brain cells to put the two-and-two together.
