It Looks Like Netflix Just ‘Leaked’ The Release Date For ‘Black Mirror’ Season 5

Or is this all some sort of cultural commentary?

Simultaneously one of the most beloved and the most mysterious shows on TV, Black Mirror has thrilled and horrified audiences across its four seasons since its debut on Netflix in 2016.

Now, Charlie Brooker’s surreal sci-fi is warming up for season number five, which has — of course — been shrouded in mystery since season 4 dropped at the end of last year.

After months of speculation (and news that the new season will likely have a ‘choose your own adventure’ episode), it looks like we’ll see the first episode of the new season dropping on December 28, 2018.

That is, if the most recent leak of information is anything to go by. As reported initially by Mirror Online, the official Netflix sci-fi account NX posted a schedule for all of December’s big upcoming releases to the platform. Right down the bottom, there it was: Black Mirror: Bandersnatch – 12/28.

The tweet was swiftly deleted, but not before it was screenshot by eagle-eyed fans and posted up everywhere.

This has opened up speculation about the announcement itself – was this is a legitimate early pop-off from an eager intern, or have those clever bastards intentionally leaked the news about their next season in order to make some sort of provocative commentary on the way that we consume news?

…wait, has Junkee been suckered in?

Who are we? What have we become?

…uh, sorry about that. What were we talking about? Oh, yes. Black Mirror. Coming to Netflix, December 28… hopefully. More than likely. Probably.
