John Oliver is one of the funniest, most influential voices on late night television right now. But when it comes to the gay community, it turns out that don’t mean squat.

The Last Week Tonight host made an appearance on the latest episode of Billy on the Street, in which he and Billy Eichner wander around New York in an attempt to answer the age old question: do gay people care about John Oliver?

The answer, as it turns out, is a resounding “no”.

You’ve really got to feel for Oliver, who looks slightly uncomfortable in public at the best of times, let alone when he’s staring rejection directly in the face.

Still, it was good of that guy towards the end there to chuck him a bone. “Well I think he’s…he talks about all the people who are involved in a lot of…non traditional relationships.”

Nice save there buddy. I mean, he’s no Cookie from Empire, but still.
