Big Little Lies Season 2 is just a few weeks away from wrapping up, and last night’s episode dropped the show’s biggest bombshell yet: the highly anticipated scene where Reese Witherspoon throws ice-cream at Meryl Streep had been cut.

Last August, paparazzi shots leaked a seemingly pivotal scene from the show where Madeline (Witherspoon) appeared to throw an ice-cream cone at Mary-Louise (Streep), who was walking away from her. It made everyone very, very excited for S2 — and given how perfectly self-contained S1 was and how cautiously optimistic audiences were about returning to Monterey, that was something.

As soon as last night’s episode showed Madeline eating ice-cream, we got chills. But then, nothing: Mary-Louise arrives on the street, the two argue, but no throw. The moment had been edited out — and online, fans weren’t exactly coping with it, calling it “the biggest lie of them all“.

Via Entertainment Tonight though, Streep revealed that we’ll still see the scene — as a DVD extra. “[Reese] just told me it’s not in the show!” Streep told ET in May, with the publication revealing the news today. “It’s [going to be] in the DVD extras.”

Assumedly the moment felt a little too over the top to be included, which, for a show which has features Streep sucking on a chain necklace and Nicole Kidman slapping her mother-in-law, is really something.
