Better Date Than Never is a dating show that’s actually relatable.

You don’t have to be an influencer or a micro-celebrity or a semi-professional athlete or an unreasonably hot firie to have a chance at a bit of romance on this program.

If you’re tired of being sold an idealised image of beauty by mainstream media and it’s got you feeling like you’ll never fit in or be valued or find someone that will love you for who you are, Better Date Than Never is for you. Even if the very thought of going on a date makes you want to lower the shades and lock the doors, BDTN will put you at ease.

That’s why we loved Season 1 of this show (currently up on iview) and can’t wait for more.

Luckily for us, Season 2 is coming soon – producers are looking for the cast as we speak. They’re especially looking for women aged 18-30 who may never have dated before, but the callout is open to anyone interested in putting themselves out there on national TV.

Historically, dating shows haven’t done a great job with representation – but BDTN is dedicated to changing that. So if you’re from a marginalised racial or cultural background, First Nations, experience life in a marginalised body, or living with a disability and you’ve never been on a date (or know someone who fits the bill), the producers would love to hear from you. And they promise to be friendly and informal. The goal is not high drama and sensationalism, but honesty and authenticity featuring real people from all walks of life.

The show is also looking for people interested in meeting the main participants for a date. Producers do their best to arrange dates between people who have a good rapport – they want to provide a fun and positive experience for everyone involved.

Of course, while it’s hard for anyone to guarantee that you’ll find the love of your life, it’s a good sign that two couples from Season 1 are still together and going strong.

If you or someone you know would like more information or to chat with one of the team, you can send an email with a brief description of yourself (and a photo and contact number) to: [email protected].
