All The Best Signs From A Massive Weekend Of Marriage Equality Rallies
#VoteYes
With less than three weeks to go until the close of the postal survey, thousands of people have once again gathered in capital cities around the country to show their support for marriage equality.
LGBTIQ Australians and their allies marched through Sydney and Brisbane on Saturday, ahead of rallies in Melbourne, Canberra and Adelaide on Sunday. Events have also been held in Perth, Darwin, Hobart, Alice Springs and on the Gold Coast, on what the Yes campaign has dubbed “marriage equality weekend”.
In Sydney, deputy opposition leader Tanya Plibersek urged people to remain positive, and quoted former first lady Michelle Obama: “when they go low, we’ll go high”.
As always, there was no shortage of people brandishing clever signs and placards.
