Conservatives were already freaking out over Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion’s song ‘WAP’, but podcaster and Daily Wire editor Ben Shapiro has taken it a step further by reading out the lyrics and pearl-clutching on his daily podcast to say “this is what feminists fought for”. He was instantly ridiculed online, which is what feminists actually fought for.

Shapiro, a dog-whistling anti-LGBTIQ+ commentator, followed suit of other right-wing figures in the US and took aim at ‘WAP”s lyrics and video on his daily podcast.

In a truly stunning self-own, the safe-space critic reads out the lyrics but censors offensive words — most integrally, the P of ‘Wet Ass Pussy’.

“‘Pay my tuition just to kiss me on this wet ass p-word,’” Shapiro says. “Guys, this is what feminists fought for. It’s what feminism is all about. It’s not really about women being treated as independent, full-rounded human beings, it’s about wet ass p-word. And if you say anything differently, it’s because you’re a misogynist, you see.”

He also blurred out Cardi B’s titty pasties.

The ‘WAP’ section of his show soon found its way onto Twitter, where he was ridiculed for his dry ass take.

“I can’t believe we live in a world where Ben Shapiro thought that angrily reading out the lyrics to WAP like a pearl-clutching mother at a school council meeting would not be extremely embarrassing for him,” wrote YouTuber Ellen Rose.

It’s a sad, silly hill to die on, especially considering that the faux controversy only garners more press coverage of the song. ‘WAP’ sky-rocketed to #1 on the US Billboard pretty much instantly, so it didn’t need their help, but the conservatives are out here promoting the song more than stan accounts.

Here is the inevitable remix.

Shapiro then, of course, doubled-down on his take to prove he was extremely not owned. He joked he must be “misogynistic” for daring to question whether the song was empowering or not. He then quotes his “doctor wife”, who suggests that if Cardi and Megan’s pussies are so wet they require a ‘bucket and mop’, then they probably have an infection. Very funny!

Back in 2018, Shapiro analysed Cardi B’s breakthrough hit ‘Bodak Yellow’ — he never learns.

Cardi B has even given a ‘Shapiro remix’ her recognition via a set of exasperated emojis. To say so much with so little.
