The up-and-coming womenswear label give us an exclusive insider's look at their debut showcase.
Earlier this week, we introduced you to Karima Hazim and Jarred Baker, the two Sydneysiders behind the exciting contemporary womenswear label, Saveus. Last night, they participated in their first ever showcase at the L’Oreal Melbourne Fashion Festival. With camera in hand, the duo took us on an exclusive behind-the-scenes tour of all the hard work and preparation that goes into producing such a high profile show. Flick through the gallery and follow their enlightening insider notes below…

#1: “Here’s Karima and I backstage at our final show briefing and rehearsal. Tired eyes!”
#2: “This is the sound and lighting check, which makes sure the entire production runs like clockwork. Lighting concepts are executed here and the DJ mixes each of the designers’ stories through seamlessly for the 1500 strong audience.”
#3: “Model show briefing. Every show has a different run through, concept and choreography, so the girls need to get briefed with each new show.”
#4: “Our model, Olivia, has many different outfits for today’s show. Here’s one: our beautiful mint hand knit and musk print shorts.”
#5: “Another one of Olivia’s looks. Most models have a quick change or two in each show. Some last minute changes to the lineup meant that we needed some final fittings right before show time. The pressure’s on!”
#6: “Here’s the back-of-house team, who work tirelessly to make sure the looks are organised and ready for the night.”
#7: “The looks are shot, printed and then laid out on these posters so we can get a good idea of the flow of outfits and organise the models into order. We are one of five different designers showing as part of the program, so it’s like a big puzzle!”
#8: “This is a camera that captures a unique bird’s eye view of the runway action, so we can monitor proceedings properly from backstage.”
#9: “Here’s Karima working with the dressers to tweak another look before we leave it up to the LMFF team.”
#10: “Stylists and dressers hard at work!”
#11: “The looks are collated and filed into order and taken away by the dressers for the big night.”
#12: “This is the back of house lanyard, which is your key to all the behind-the-scenes action.”
#13: “We’re ready to roll. Our work is done and now it’s time for a well-earned drink!”
