This ‘Beauty And The Beast’ Deleted Scene Confirms One Poor Servant Was Turned Into A Toilet
In retrospect, Cogsworth didn't have it that bad.
Beauty and the Beast may seem like a whimsical fantasy, but when you really think about it, it’s actually incredibly disturbing. Not only is the Beast a kidnapper who spends most of the movie leering after his hostage, but he’s also waited on hand and foot by a castle full of servants who, through no fault of their own, have been cursed to live out their days as household appliances. It’s messed up.
Still, if you think Cogsworth and Mrs. Potts have it bad, spare a thought for Monsieur Toilette, the man condemned to spend the rest of his life as a shitter.
In a new deleted scene shared with Entertainment Weekly that takes place during the film’s climactic final battle, Josh Gad’s wimpy LeFou tries to hide from the carnage, only to find him face to face with the most unfortunate character in the entire Disney canon.
It’s not clear what Toilette did in life to deserve such a fate. Nor does it pay to think about everything that he presumably went through in the many cold, dark years before Belle turned up on the castle doorstep. Tale as old as time? I’m sure you don’t have to tell him that.
Toilette also reportedly appears in human form in another deleted scene, where he is played by Stephen Merchant. You’ll be able to view that when Beauty and the Beast hits DVD and Bluray later this month.
Incidentally, between this and the incredible footage of Dan Steven’s waddling around in a motion capture suit, I think I officially like the movie’s supplemental material more than the movie itself.
