A few weeks ago, ticketing company Tixel released a Spotify and Apple Music plug-in that let you find your ‘three top lockdown songs’ — now, they’re crunched the data to reveal Australia’s most-listened-to tracks and artists during COVID-19 times.

When it comes to songs, we’re mostly working with 2020 releases. At #1, we’ve got The Scotts’ eponymous single — the new collaboration between Kid Cudi and Travis Scott. Makes sense.

Following that is DaBaby’s ‘ROCKSTAR’ with 2020 breakout Roddy Ricch, then we’ve got one of The 1975’s latest singles, ‘If You’re Too Shy (Let Me Know).  Joji, Juice WRLD, Playboi Carti, Lime Cordiale, Drake and Dua Lipa round out the top ten — but it’s the inclusion of Frank Ocean’s ‘Lost’ at #8 that has us surprised.

The Channel Orange track came out in 2012, so we’re left wondering if everyone just looked for the most aptly titled Ocean song for the moment they could find then listened to it on repeat. We can’t blame them: we’ve all have some introspective moments during isolation, and sometimes you need a moody-yet-upbeat backing track.

The artist list looks a little different. Drake is our #1 artist, followed by Travis Scott, then The 1975. Harry Styles makes it in at #4, despite not cracking the top 10 songs — and Doja Cat is the most listened to female artist at #7, followed by Dua Lipa at #8.

A handful other female acts make the top 30 playlist, which Tixel has shared on Spotify, including Madison Beer (who was just on RuPaul’s Secret Celebrity Drag Race), Ariana Grande, Megan Thee Stallion and WILLOW.

As for Australian acts, The Smith Street Band is currently our top home-grown act, followed by Lime Cordiale and then, somewhat surprisingly, global powerhouse Tame Impala.
