Aubrey Plaza Will Star In The White Lotus Season 2, Hopefully Alongside Jennifer Coolidge
Jennifer Coolidge is also rumoured to be returning for Season 2.
In what is quite possibly the first bit of good news in 2022, Aubrey Plaza has been cast in Season 2 of the iconic HBO series The White Lotus.
Season 1 of the dark comedy series followed the stories of a group of travellers at the White Lotus resort in Hawaii, and starred the likes of Alexandra Daddario, Connie Britton and Jennifer Coolidge. It’s expected that Season 2 will go down a similar path, but will follow a different group of travellers at a different White Lotus resort.
HBO has remained tight-lipped on the location for the second season, however sources have speculated that we may be checking in to an Italian resort this time. Season 1 was filmed entirely on location at a Hawaiian resort in an attempt to minimise the risk of COVID interruptions, so a similar tactic may be used to film the second season, as the pandemic continues to wreak havoc on the entertainment industry.
Plaza will star as Harper Spiller, a woman vacationing at the resort with her husband and his friends. She joins previously announced Michael Imperioli — of The Sopranos fame — who will play Dominic Di Grasso, a man travelling with his elderly father and son, who recently graduated college.
Previously, Plaza has graced our screens in films like Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates, lesbian Christmas movie Happiest Season, and Dirty Grandpa, but is best known as April in Parks and Recreation.
Jennifer Coolidge, who was nominated for a Golden Globe for her performance in the series, has been rumoured to be returning for Season 2. However, this is yet to be confirmed.
Series creator Mike White will again serve as writer, director, and executive producer, with David Bernad and Mark Kamine also returning as executive producers.
There’s no word yet on when exactly we can expect Season 2 to grace our screens, or if production has even started, but we can assume it will be streamed on Binge when it eventually drops.
