Antoni Porowski Tries To Pull Off Chaotic Energy In New Trailer For His New Cooking Show
She's so crazy! Love her.
It is tough to be alive now. Societal collapse is in the air — it smells like it.
Those were the exasperated words of Timothée Chalamet at the Venice Film Festival earlier this year, and almost definitely a response to an early viewing of Antoni Porowski’s new cooking show: Easy-Bake Battle: The Home Cooking Competition.
Regrettably, the teaser isn’t from an episode of 30 Rock. It’s not even a scene from the forthcoming season of Black Mirror. It’s a real TV show, available to stream in real life. What does that say about us as a culture? What does that say about where we are?
To be fair, since the infamous Queer Eye launched to great success in 2018 (were we ever so young?) Porowski seems to have bagged fewer knock-on opportunities than his cohosts. Tan France has been around; hosting Next In Fashion with Alexa Chung and launching a line of genderless coats, Jonathan Van Ness dropped a book and podcast and shampoo line, Karamo Brown made a worthy appearance on Is It Cake?
Et tu, Antoni? Weren’t you, despite being a questionable cook, one of the show’s most popular — or at least, hottest — members? What will your verse be?
To be fair, it’s possible that Porowski just wanted a break. There was too much discourse. Too many avocado questions. Too many bitchy media critics. God!
But over the years, which have included a pandemic, we see that Porowski has found the courage to show himself to us once more; and clearly years of pent-up resentment at not having as much going on as his peers has been sublimated here, in this trailer, filmed in front of a sad pink curtain, for our weary yet inevitable consumption.
Watch it below, and despair our generation’s legacy accordingly.
ok, this is super cute @antoni
