An Antarctic Researcher Allegedly Stabbed His Colleague For Spoiling The Ending Of A Book
Relatable.
A Russian man working at a remote Antarctic research station has been charged with attempted murder after allegedly stabbing a colleague multiple times in the chest because he kept spoiling the endings of books.
55-year-old scientific engineer Sergey Savitsky is alleged to have stabbed 52-year-old welder Oleg Beloguzov with a kitchen knife during a drunken altercation. According to UK newspaper The Sun, the two men were both avid readers, a hobby they took up to pass the time in the isolated facility. But Savitsky grew angry with Beloguzov after he “kept telling his colleague the endings of books before he read them”.
To be honest, that shit is infuriating. Probably not a stab-worthy offence though.
Beloguzov was evacuated to Chile where he was placed in intensive care. His heart was injured in the attack, but his life is apparently not in danger.
A remorseful Savitsky has since been deported back to Russia and placed under house arrest, where he will presumably have many books to keep him company. A criminal probe is currently underway.
