Whether you are in a car, on a bike or walking, the roads can be a really grumpy place to be. There’s the pang of rage when someone cuts in front without indicating. The furrowing of your brow as someone blatantly breaks the road rules. There’s the indignity of an undeserved honk, and the simmering fury of a too-slow driver.

Underneath all of it, however, is the burning feeling of injustice. The lack of penalty for bad or rude drivers. The fact that they cut you off/speed away/run that red light — then, at least most of the time, they get away with it.

Enter dash cams. If you haven’t experienced the joy that is dash cam videos, then boy are you in for a treat. Basically, some drivers have cameras running all the time as they navigate the choppy streets of society — whenever they catch something funny, weird or just all-out dangerous, they put it online so that we can all feel the soothing balm of shared anger.

“Angry Pedestrian Gets Instant Karma” is a combination of everything that is great about dash cam videos. In it you see a man walking his dog. A car stops at the red light, allowing the man to cross, but for some reason he’s got a bee in his bonnet, a thorn in his side, and he is immediately on the offensive. Waggling his finger, pumping his arm up and down and eventually flipping the…rock and roll sign (?) he firmly and clearly expresses his displeasure at…something?

The driver is all of us as he mutters “oh piss off” under his breath, before bursting into delighted peals of laughter as the pedestrian, distracted by his display of machismo and rage walks directly into a pole.

Misplaced anger! Instant justice! A dog! And the Golden Logie goes to…
