The Catholic League has condemned the comedy as "pure trash".

Any movie that gets condemned by the Catholic League as “trash, pure trash” is probably going to be worth a look. When that movie also stars Alison Brie, Aubrey Plaza and Kate Micucci, you should be lining up around the block for tickets.

Ostensibly set in medieval Italy, The Little Hours follows Sister Alessandra (Brie), Sister Fernanda (Plaza) and Sister Ginevra (Micucci), a trio of horny, foul-mouthed nuns who become obsessed with their convent’s virile new servant Massetto (Dave Franco).

John C. Reilly, Nick Offerman, Molly Shannon and Fred Armisen co-star, and I don’t know what kind of unholy pact director Jeff Baen signed to secure a cast this good, but I guess it makes sense that the film he ended up making looks like the most blasphemous thing ever.

The Little Hours hits cinemas in the US on June 30.
