Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez gets the youth in a way that most — if not all — American politicians fundamentally do not.

It’s not just that she uses social media platforms like Instagram Live and — as of today — Twitch to spread her message. Lots of politicians do that. It’s that Ocasio-Cortez does it without irony, and filled with an exuberant, obvious joy. It doesn’t seem cynical with her (even though, obviously, these are election strategies like any other.) She seems perpetually like she’s doing this for real.

Which might explain the titanic reception to Ocasio-Cortez’s bumper Twitch session earlier today, in which the Congresswoman absolutely annihilated friends and fellow politicians while playing Among Us.

For those not in the know, Among Us is a team multi-player game that follows the format of classroom staple Mafia — someone is the killer, and must slowly pick off crewmates before they get discovered.

It’s a particularly fun game to watch if you’re spectating a group of players who have a dynamic that you understand. Usually, such players are YouTubers and gamers. Today, it was Ocasio-Cortez and her fellow politician Ilhan Omar, along with a who’s-who of political activists and celebrities, including Leftist YouTube hero Hbomberguy.

So yeah, given that rollcall, it was unsurprising that within hours of the stream starting, it was drawing seriously massive views.

And then there was the content itself. Turns out Ocasio-Cortez is a natural Twitch streamer, full of energy and life throughout.

Of course, as some were quick to point out, there was one important Leftist not present…
