Nerds, the day has arrived.

After a year of speculation since Disney and LucasFilms first announced their plans to reboot the franchise, the cast for the upcoming Star Wars: Episode VII has been officially announced. Director JJ Abrams, who keeps more secrets than a teen girl’s diary, was finally forced to reveal his hand during a live table read in London, and the list includes an intriguing mix of fresh faces, Star Wars legends, and yes, Girls‘ lanky lunatic, Adam Driver.

Alongside legendary returning faces such as Harrison Ford (Han Solo), Carrie Fisher (Princess Leia), Mark Hamill (Luke Skywalker), Anthony Daniels (C-3PO), Peter Mayhew (Chewbacca) and Kenny Baker (R2-D2) are the following newbies — some familiar, some less so, but soon to all be blockbuster attractions:

John Boyega, 22: Young British actor most famous for playing gang leader Moses in Joe Cornish’s brilliant 2011 alien invasion-in-the-housing projects hit, Attack The Block. By all accounts, this guy’s gonna be a Hollywood superstar by the time the film comes out.

Daisy Ridley, “16-20”: A fresh-faced nobody who doesn’t even have a Wikipedia page yet. According to her agency profile (which the whole world is looking up this morning), her playing age is “16-20”, she’s only had bit parts on BBC’s Casualty and Jeremy Piven’s Mr Selfridge to date, and she’ll be starring in next year’s Aussie shot Inbetweeners movie. But there she is in the group pic sitting comfortably between Harrison Ford and Carrie Fisher; today must be a good day to be Daisy Ridley.

Adam Driver, 30: Yep, your ol’ friend from Girls made the cut, which means Lena Dunham’s definitely going to have to kill him off now. Whatever his role in Star Wars VII is, he better do it with that terrible Major Barbara Cockney accent.

Oscar Isaac, 35: The actor became a household name last year after scoring award nomination after award nomination for his starring role in the Coen Bros’ Inside Llewyn Davis. Did you know he starred in Aussie production Balibo back in ’09? Cool facts!

Andy Serkis, 50: C’mon, you’re all nerds, you know who Andy Serkis is.

Domhnall Gleeson, 30: Irish actor, son of Irish screen legend Brendan Gleeson, Tony Award nominee, and Bill Weasley in Harry Potter & The Deathly Hallows, Parts One & Two. Looks a lot like a goth Wes Anderson in his Wiki profile pic.

Max Von Sydow, 85: Swedish veteran, has a sad face and a filmography longer than Lindsay Lohan’s criminal record. Famously starred in Bergman’s The Seventh Seal (1957), Friedkin’s The Exorcist (1973), Lynch’s Dune (1980), and, uh, Stallone’s Judge Dredd (1995).

So, there you go, an eclectic cast. Disney has set a December 18, 2015 release date for the first pic in its planned trilogy, so now we can all start speculating about what the freaking plot involves.
