‘Adventure Time’ As A Gritty Live-Action Reboot Is Very Sad, Surprisingly Excellent

The people at YouTube channel Gritty Reboots specialise in — you guessed it — making gritty reboots out of things that have no business being either rebooted or grittied. The trailer for Calvin and Hobbes: The Movie is particularly bleak, but their latest, a reimagining of Adventure Time into a melancholy, fading world where everything is dying from a lack of magic, weirdly fits kind of well with the original series’ premise; the cartoon is set in a post-apocalyptic wasteland in which humans are virtually extinct, after all.
Except the bit where Finn cuts Lemongrab’s head off. That bit was pretty fucked up.
