Brad Pitt’s Epic Space Thriller ‘Ad Astra’ Is In Cinemas This Month

The thrilling space epic, starring OG heartthrob Brad Pitt, is about to make a whole lot of us furiously Google “how to become an astronaut”.
Pitt plays Major Roy McBride, an elite astronaut who’s sent to the outer edges of the solar system to unravel a mystery that threatens the survival of our planet. Massive power surges have been rippling through the galaxy and wreaking havoc on Earth, and they’ve finally been traced to deep space near Neptune.
He’s also on a mission to find his father, played by Tommy Lee Jones, who went missing in outer space 16 years ago – and might just be the one causing the surges.
To get to Neptune, Roy will face off against space pirates, fight to the death in a zero-gravity showdown, and have an honest-to-god car chase on the surface of the moon.
It looks – how do you say? – incredible. If space movies have become the new standard for awesome visuals and thrilling action set-pieces, which they have (oh HELLO Gravity, Interstellar, and The Martian), then Ad Astra blasts off with the intensity of a Brad Pitt-driven rocket ship and takes the genre to new levels.
(The genre, of course, being “heartthrobs in space”. We will not be taking questions about this.)
Ad Astra is directed by James Gray and also stars Liv Tyler, Ruth Negga, and Donald Sutherland. It’s also produced by Pitt – which means we’re in for a thrilling show that will look incredible on the big screen.
