1. Rollercoasting Fabio vs Some Bird

It’s hard to know whether this was truly an accident or if jealousy played a part, but Italian model Fabio once sustained injuries when a bird flew into his beautiful face as he rode on a roller coaster.

Fabio walked away with a one-inch cut to his nose; the bird was not so lucky.

2. Tobogganing Arnie vs George W Bush

In his autobiography Total Recall, Arnold Schwarzenegger recalls a fateful tobogganing trip he took with President George Bush. The anecdote begins with “unfortunately, I did not know the toboggan”, and ends with first lady Barbara Bush being rushed to hospital with a broken leg.

3. Salt ‘N Pepa vs Home Perm

Salt ‘N Pepa’s asymmetrical haircuts set a hip hop style trend, but they came about as the result of a home perm gone horribly wrong. One side of Pepa’s scalp was burned during a treatment by her sister – rather than cry, she embraced the pain and chopped off her locks, inspiring a whole new look for women.

4. Panic At The Disco vs Jumping Up And Down

Some bands will risk life and limb for their fans. During a 2011 show in Florida, Panic! At The Disco singer Brendon Urie got a little excited, and broke his ankle while jumping up and down. Rather than limp off stage, he joked around about the rather gruesome injury, and finished the rest of the set.

5. George Clooney vs 11-Year-Old Girl

On the list of humiliating ways to get injured, being hit by an 11-year-old girl has to be right at the top. George Clooney discovered this when his Descendants co-star Amara Miller gave him a playful smack on the head, smashing two of his teeth in the process. Ever the pro, Clooney stuck them back together with Crazy Glue in order to finish the shot.

6. Mark Philippoussis’s Head vs Goran Ivanisevic’s Head

Goran Ivanisevic and Mark Philippoussis took that “get your head in the game” advice a little too seriously during a doubles tournament in Toronto. The pair cracked their heads together as they both lurched for the same ball, meaning stitches for one, a concussion for the other, and bruised egos for both.

7. Brad Pitt vs Eric Bana

In the spectacle of greased-up pecs and lustrous hair that was Troy, Brad Pitt played the warrior Achilles, who was famously taken down by an arrow to the heel. While filming an intense fight scene with Eric Bana, Pitt slipped, and you get one guess as to which tendon he tore. He had months in which to ponder the irony while recovering.

8. Gordon Ramsay vs Puffin

Apparently in Iceland, ‘puffin hunting season’ is a thing. Gordon Ramsay knows all about it. A few years back, the foul-mouthed celebrity chef went on a mission to kill, cook and eat a bunch of the adorable creatures. One plucky puffin fought back and bit him on the nose, requiring several stitches. That’s what you get.
