Uni and stress may as well be synonymous at this point with assignments hitting us all left, right and centre.

Unsurprisingly, all the expectations and responsibilities that are added bonuses of attending uni, can wear us down and do wear us down quickly.

In light of this, here are five ways to minimise stress on campus and help you stay at the top of your game no matter what the academic endeavour.

#1 Headphones

Nothing has the ability to transform your state of being more than a pair of headphones and some solid tunes.

Listening to music at home or on campus is a super effortless and effective strategy for letting go of the stress often brought on by deadlines, tests and upcoming exams.

The best way to make the most of your music on campus is by having two playlists on rotation.

Fill one playlist with strictly relaxing acoustic jams for when you need to unwind or calm down. On the second playlist, chuck on a bunch of bangin’ beats to listen to when you need to feel empowered and motivated.

#2 Find A Support Network

Most unis are aware of the stress that students experience and have specific societies, support groups and people to talk to when it all gets too much.

By having a quick scroll through your uni’s website you’re likely to find what services are available to you; whether it means getting extra assistance to better your marks or even special consideration.

Check out what assistance is available to you and make the most of it. It could mean the difference between a stress-centric Week 12 or a manageable and rewarding semester.

#3 Find The Perfect Spot To Chill

Most uni campuses across Australia are massive and therefore have stacks of places to get a bit of R&R on campus.

Find yourself a shady spot outside and bring something fun and stress-free to enjoy in between classes.

By making sure you give yourself adequate breaks throughout the semester, you’ll most likely find that when you do work you become much more productive.

#4 Go For A Walk

Another simple but really effective way to minimise stress is to exercise all that tension out of your body.

Going for a run might not be practical with a bag full of books and a computer, but a walk is definitely doable and super chill for all fitness levels.

Bonus points if you bring some friends along and make it a habit.

#5 Be Kind To Yourself

When all else fails, try looking at the reasons behind why you might be coming up short and stressing out.

Are you rundown, tired, hungry? All of the above?

If you answered yes to any of these questions, it might be time to stop, take stock and be kind to yourself.

Reward all your hard work by taking some extra time for you. Get your nails done, take yourself out to watch a movie or eat dessert. The possibilities are endless!

Once you feel like ‘you’ again you’ll be able to smash through anything uni throws at you, stress-free.

So there you have it – the most fun and chill ways to deal with stress this semester.

Give it your all and show that stress who’s boss.
