We were only talking about the original PlayStation Harry Potter game a couple of weeks ago, and now, overnight, footage of a mysterious new game based on the series emerges online. Coincidence? I think not. Clearly, we’ve manifested this gift. You’re welcome.

Now, it’s easy to assume this could just be the work of fans – but check it out.

This looks legit to me.

The original video was removed by Warner Bros with a copyright claim. We’ve reached out for comment, but in the meantime — let’s detail everything we know about the best thing to happen to the world of Harry Potter since before J.K Rowling started tweeting.

The doors fling open to reveal the great hall, we see staircases of Hogwarts and get a glimpse at the character creation screen. There are students doing spells, mixing potions, and wandering through Diagon Alley. There’s a map. Yep, this is a full-blown role-playing game. Fingers crossed it’s not full of microtransactions like the recent Hogwarts Mystery, though.

According to Eurogamer, there was a description posted along with the now-removed original video that spoke about a 19th-century setting, a 5th-year student and the ability to play as good or evil. Originally thought to be a Rocksteady Studios (Batman: Arkham, Urban Chaos: Riot Response) production, that theory has since been debunked, with Avalanche Studios (Just Cause, Mad Max) now the frontrunner to be behind the game.

Of course, Twitter is bursting with rumours (and a few wishes) now.
