We (Kind Of) Have Permission To Eat Pizza For Breakfast
If you, like us, think pizza is the best breakfast food imaginable, then boy do we have some good news for you. A nutritionist admitted that if you had to choose between cereal and pizza for breakfast, pizza is the better option.
No matter that she said this begrudgingly. Or that she uttered the words “I am not endorsing pizza as the healthiest breakfast option”.
Better Than Cereal!
You know how you eat cold pizza straight out of the fridge and wonder where your life went wrong? To hell with that negative self talk!
“You may be surprised to find out that an average slice of pizza and a bowl of cereal with whole milk contain nearly the same amount of calories,” nutritionist Chelsey Amer told The Daily Meal. “However, pizza packs a much larger protein punch, which will keep you full and boost satiety throughout the morning.”
She continued, “A slice of pizza contains more fat and much less sugar than most cold cereals, so you will not experience a quick sugar crash.”
See? It’s got carbs, dairy, protein… veggies? Maybe? It’s one step away from superfood status.
As we mentioned, Amer didn’t say it was a healthy option, she just said it’s probably better than a stacked bowl of Frosty Flakes. The point is that she said it, so we’re gonna take it and run with it.
Here’s another pizza gif for good measure:
