He plays a rumpled, hard-drinking German spy. Perfect.

Directed by  The American‘s Anton Corbijn, A Most Wanted Man is one of a handful of post-humous Seymour Hoffman films we can look forward to over the next few years, including the two remaining Hunger Games flicks, and John Slattery’s directorial debut, God’s Pocket.

Based on a novel by spy novelist John le Carré, A Most Wanted Man is set in Hamburg, where Mohammed Atta and his collaborators planned the September 11 attacks. PSH plays the alcoholic leader of an anti-terrorist intelligence ring, who enlists the help of a human rights attorney (Rachel McAdams), the head of a bank (William DaFoe), and a CIA agent (Robin Wright) to fight the German-based terrorists.

It looks pretty dark. It also looks pretty great.

The film premiered at Sundance a few months ago, and opens in America on July 25.
