Watch Kanye Perform An Awesome Career-Spanning Medley In Five Minutes
That's a good length of time for a career-spanning medley.
Remember Kanye back in 2004, when he rocked backpacks and polos and smiled in interviews? Ah, it seems so long ago. Overnight, the rapper tapped back into that youthful innocence with a great cameo on the second episode of former SNL alumni Seth Myers’ new late night show.
The duo sat down for a wide-ranging and surprisingly pleasant chat that touched on Kanye’s fashion plans (of course), the sense of freedom he gets from walking around in a Margiela mask, and whether or not his new-found fatherhood will turn him into the new Wiggles (sure, maybe the sweariest Wiggles). Myers also revealed this great SNL skit from 2007, where Kanye interrupts a state fair pumpkin contest.
Mainly, though, the interview focused on Kanye’s seminal debut The College Dropout, which is celebrating its 10th anniversary. To mark the occasion, Kanye took to the stage to chronologically flip through his discography — yep, all six albums — with an awesome medley that’ll remind you that you don’t really hate Kanye even though you sometimes pretend you do. Starting with the familiar bounce of ‘Jesus Walks’, the set then segued into ‘Touch The Sky’, a sparse ‘Stronger’, an autotuned ‘Heartless’, ‘All Of The Lights’, ‘Mercy, and finally ‘Black Skinhead’. It’ll make you wanna get your hands on those upcoming tour tickets.
MIC DROP. See Alex Turner, it’s actually kinda cool when Kanye does it.
