Triple J Is Launching A New ‘Festival’, But It’s A Little Bit Different
Get ready for the lineup of your dreams -- literally.
Ever sat at home, scribbling your own dream festival on the back of a scrap of paper, imagining all the acts you’d get in one place if you were a big shot promoter with a shedload of cash? Well, turns out so have the folks over at triple j.
Enter triple j’s ‘Dream Festival’ — a radio event that compiles the very best live sets that have been squirrelled away in the ABC archives. So yeah, sure, it’s not strictly a festival, but hey, for all of you grumpy old music lovers out there who can’t bear the thought of donning a pair of uncomfortable gumboots and sitting out in a mucky tent while drinking stale, that’s probably a good thing.

The Dream Festival will go down over three ‘stages’ — AKA triple j, Double J and Unearthed — so there’s still a chance that a few of your favourite acts will clash. But hey, that’s just the way it goes when the lineup is stacked.
And stacked the lineup is, boasting classic acts, genre-bending newcomers, and a healthy mix of Aussies and internationals. Check it out:
A.B. Original, Amy Shark, Arcade Fire, Ball Park Music, Beastie Boys, Boy & Bear, Brockhampton, Chvrches, Eddy Current Suppression Ring, Flume, Gang of Youths, Grinspoon, Hockey Dad, The Jungle Giants, Lana Del Rey, Lorde, N.E.R.D, PJ Harvey, Powderfinger, Radiohead, Remi, Sampa The Great, San Cisco, Sharon Jones & The Dap-Kings, Sia, Silverchair, Tame Impala, Tash Sultana, The XX.
The festival kicks off at noon on Saturday 22 June. So why not invite a bunch of mates around, get someone to set up a stall selling Monster and Vodka out of plastic cups, and recreate the festival experience in the comfort of your very own home? You won’t regret it.
