After many moons of eager anticipation, the Thor: Love And Thunder trailer is finally here and it looks insanely cool.

Directed by the legendary Taika Waititi and co-written with Jennifer Kaytin Robinson (Someone Great, Unpregnant), the trailer for Thor Love and Thunder promises some psychedelic space hijinks.

Chris Hemsworth is back in the saddle as everyone’s favourite himbo god of thunder, and the Guardians of the Galaxy are along for a crazy ride that somehow involves Russell Crowe playing Zeus.

The last time we saw Thor in the MCU, he bequeathed Asgard’s leadership to Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson) and hitched a ride with the Guardians of the Galaxy. Thor: Love and Thunder was filmed here on Eora lands.

The synopsis goes something like this: Thor is on a journey unlike anything he’s ever faced – a quest for inner peace. But his retirement is interrupted by a galactic killer known as Gorr the God Butcher (Christian Bale), who seeks the extinction of the gods.

To combat the threat, Thor enlists the help of King Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson), Korg (Taika Waititi) and ex-girlfriend Jane Foster (Natalie Portman), who – to Thor’s surprise – inexplicably wields his magical hammer, Mjolnir, as the Mighty Thor. Together, they embark upon a harrowing cosmic adventure to uncover the mystery of the God Butcher’s vengeance and stop him before it’s too late.

That’s right, we’re going to meet Lady Thor! Details of the role are being kept under wraps but we will see Natalie Portman reprise her role as Thor’s scientist ex-girlfriend, Jane Foster. Tessa Thompson will also be reprising her role as King Valkyrie, and Taika Waititi as everyone’s favourite rock alien Korg.

The film will be in cinemas on July 8, 2022.
