There comes a time in every person’s life when they stumble across something on the internet so truly brutish and repulsive they are physically paralysed with both disgust and awe. It is a vision of all that is terrible and frightening in the world, yet you can’t look away. And after you have pried yourself from the scene, not even the most scolding of showers and sharpest of exfoliating loafs can make you feel clean again.

If this sounds like a consequence worth enduring, then by all means damn yourself to the scorching fires of your own slowly-deteriorating mind forever and watch this short film, The Chickening.

Directed by Nick DenBoer and Davy Force, the film has already savagely blemished the consciences of audiences across various film festivals, including TIFF, Fantastic Fest and Sundance. DenBoer and Force described the piece of “remixed, augmented cinema” as a “theatrical trailer for a fictional film in which Stanley Kubrick’s classic film The Shining has been artfully transformed into a new, poultry-infused comedy adventure by digitally altering the film to create a new narrative”, which is way too many words for “trashcan of poisonous cinematic sewerage”.

These will quite literally be the worst few minutes of your life. I warned you — don’t come crying when your brain jelly is eternally scarred, and you’re filled with violent rage.
